The night-before checklist
1. What's the worst version of this in two years — and can you live with it?
2. Whose opinion are you privately optimizing for? Is that the right person?
3. What would the version of you with double the experience do?
4. What part of this is the right decision wearing the wrong clothes?
5. If you said no, what would you do tomorrow?
The rule
If four of five answers point the same way, sign in the morning. If two point one way and three the other, wait a week. If they split evenly, you don't have enough information yet — go gather it.
